Baby Fever

February 26, 2009

I had the joy of working with this little guy (and I do mean little) for not just one but two days this week. He’s not … how shall we say … a sleeper. But holding him was so much fun. It does give a girl baby fever. Then I was nicely reminded by his parents that they aren’t sleeping all that much which helps with the baby fever.

February 25, 2009

This is a new concept of mine. I headed out this past weekend with my daughter for some portraits but not to a park but to a more urban area. This was actually in the Gables area. I love the results and not just because it’s my daughter (isn’t she awesome) but because the whole session has a different feel.

Plus after we spent some good quality time together we discovered a cute new coffee spot. Passion Coffee. They have all kinds of great choices and it’s a cute store. You can find them at 100 Giralda if you want to check it out.

If you’re interested in a different style for your next portraits ask about this when you call.

no photo today

February 24, 2009

I actually have a wonderful photo to share but I quite simply ran out of time in the studio before I could get everything done. This is why I am looking for an assistant. I think that anyone who has been around the studio in the last year or so would agree that it’s time to add to the staff. So, if you or someone you know is interested in a part-time job let me know. I’m looking for somebody who’s fun, cheerful, smart, independent, creative and a self-starter.

For school today we had to get 100 skittles (or actually 100 anything) to bring to school. We chose skittles. It was important to my kiddo that it be 100 of a candy. At the store I was trying to assess how many bags of skittles it would take to be 100. Unfortunately, they didn’t break the nutritional information down by individual piece. Let’s just say I think I got about a zillion too many skittles. I picked up 3 bigger bags. We have a lot of extra skittles in my house at the moment. In a year or so when you red on the blog about my kids having cavities — perhaps remind me of the skittles post.

This morning I was listening to my morning talk radio and that was fun. Paul and Young Ron were doing a food item down on South Beach which was pretty funny. I wonder what the chefs would do if their secret ingredient was skittles?

What a weekend

February 17, 2009

I hope all of my avid blog fans had a nice weekend. It seems almost as if I haven’t posted for a week instead of just a few days. Saturday was clearly St. Valentine’s Day. I did something new with my husband we went to see some music at Fairchild Tropical Gardens. It was really nice. There was a lot going on this weekend. Of course, we also visited the fabulous Coconut Grove Art Festival which was a lot of fun. It was super hot when we went. It was my intention to do some street photography at the show but I was there with my whole crew and I’ll be honest it’s hard to juggle all of the kid stuff with all the camera stuff. Also, I was overruled in the decision to take the stroller (which is to say we left it home) so I left the camera at home too. So, you’ll have to live without my documentary experience of the art festival. I only bought a belt at the art show. Maybe I’ll take a photo of that to share today.

Here’s the photo of the day. He was a visitor at our house this weekend.

Happy Valentine’s Day to Me

February 13, 2009

I have just discovered a wonderful thing. I love fresh flowers and can rarely remember to pick them up at the grocery store. I also love my local flower cart folks but unfortunately if I don’t time my visit just right for visiting them my flowers can be a little less than fresh. So when I found out about this service — I signed up immediately.  I just got my first delivery yesterday a big box outside my door. My kids were thrilled to open the box and find the fresh flowers. They wanted the hydrangeas in their rooms but that was a no-go for me. They have an option to sign up for the rose service which I actually didn’t select but my first order did include roses anyway. They are pictured below. What a great treat. The bucket and box that came with them were also a great set of toys for my little flower lovers.

So, Flowers at your Door now has a new raving fan. I’m sharing the word.

Seeing is believing

February 12, 2009

This is so much fun. I put up a sign. I know what you’re thinking. It was fun having a studio with no sign where it was sort of like a little test to see if people could find it. But this will be even more fun I think.

In fact I went sign crazy and put up two signs. Well, to be honest one was included with the purchase of the other. That’s okay with me. I hope you’ll come and see them in person too.

Movers and Shakers

February 11, 2009

So, there is a lot happening here in the new studio. Not the least of which is that I’m continuing to unpack the boxes and hang the samples. Why is unpacking so un-fun?

The newsletter is going out today which is always exciting.

Here is the Picture of the Day (POD). The newsletter highlights this project so now I have to really be sure I’m keeping up. It is another corporate portrait which is definitely one of my busiest items of the month. It’s a lot of fun though because I’m meeting new and exciting people and that’s always fun.
