Well … when I say trunk I mean box. The trunk is actually a box but nonetheless it has arrived. I’m checking it all out now. I look forward to seeing everybody this weekend to shop all these cute clothes.

Come and pick out a cute outfit … get a gift certificate and then your kiddos can wear your new cute  outfit in a few weeks for a session.

For those of you who didn’t already know my daughter turned 5 this year. Her party was yesterday — Sunday. Against all odds it did not rain on her party. I cannot tell you how hugely stressed I was about that.

But a great time was had by all — including the birthday girl.

Since I know so many of my clients have young children I wanted to share with my avid blog readers ( … are there avid blog readers … I think their are) how to reach the vendors we used. We had Mr. Nick for music and he’s fantastic and we had the best clown I’ve ever had Yupi … I highly recommend them both.

Lastly, a special shout out to Wendy and Maria at Peace of Cake who helped me find Yupi  and that was a very important thing.

I added a special category in the blogroll to highlight these types of vendors.

Short notice but come one and come all we’re having a Matilda Jane Clothing trunk show next weekend. Drop by Saturday, November 1st between 11 and 5. Or make an appointment for Sunday. If you can’t make it on those days call us because the trunk might get here early.

This is something different for the studio — it’s not even actually related — it’s just for fun. But come and see these amazing cute clothes.

I will admit that I am one of “those people” who likes to at least enjoy Halloween before I start to plan the winter holidays. I personally love Halloween and Fall in general even though it doesn’t get very fall-ish weather around here.

But fall is coming to Jady Images — briefly in case you’re interested.

There will be a few mini sessions with a fall set (leaves, pumpkins, apples, straw etc.) on Saturday, October 25th.

These are 20 minute sessions. The cost is $49.99 which includes:

  • Between 5-10 images to choose from
  • One 4×5 portrait of your choice in a desk frame.
  • One CD with the low-resolution images
  • An online gallery for 1 week
  • 20% off of anything else you’d like to purchase from this session via the online gallery.

This is the first time I’ve offered this digital package and my plan is that you will be able to leave the session with your cd at the time of the session. Of course, sometimes my plans go awry but that’s the plan.

These sessions sell out really quickly. They must be prepaid to reserve your spot. I recommend this for children over 6 months for best results. There is a maximum of 2 children and one outfit (or costume) in 20 minutes. If you need to add more time give us a call and we’ll make a plan.

Email us or call us to reserve your spot.

I met a person recently who has a service that I am definitely going to take advantage of in the future so I’m sharing this information with all my avid blog readers. It’s a pharmacy here in Miami that delivers your prescriptions at no charge. I haven’t yet tried it but I think it sounds like a fantastic idea. I know that in my life I really would like to cut that trip to the pharmacy out of my to do list. So, if that sounds helpful to you maybe you’ll want to check them out as well.

You can find them here.

the great light experiment

October 9, 2008

So … I’m always looking for ways to be a better steward for the planet. That could be recycling or buying reusable water bottles or grocery bags. I even participated in the FPL renewable energy scam … but that’s not what this post is about. About a month ago I thought I’d try the energy efficient light bulbs. I bought one thinking I should try it before I commit the whole house. The first bulb to go out was in my daughters room so we put in the new bulb.

Well … I think the reason it uses less energy is that it’s a lot less bright. So that was a bummer. Then there is the fact that it made her whole room green. I guess I knew it was a florescant light but I hadn’t thought it all the way through because the color cast caught me off guard. So, we stuck it out for about a month but last night we gave in and we’re back to the energy in-efficient light bulb but at least we can find dropped beads and we don’t all appear like we have the stomach flu.

Well mom and dad and grandma know that baby “S” is always on the go with no time for sleeping. This little munchkin has a lot to do and she’s not waiting for anybody. She’s ready to crawl, walk and talk all at the same time.

Okay so she did eventually crash for a little nap … but I promise you she was jumping around until the very last second when she was asleep *poof* sleeping. It was a riot.

Thanks for spending some time with me and I’ll see you guys soon for your whole show.
