* all wrapped up *

September 24, 2009

I mentioned yesterday that I was all into wrapping up my mommies to be. So here’s another one. Every mother will tell you that the second pregnancy is totally different with a toddler in tow. Every photographer will tell you that any portrait session with a toddler is more interesting than one without :-)

This is a beautiful mommy to be and a beautiful toddler too. I’m super excited to meet the newest member of the family in a short while.

* Back to the Beach *

July 30, 2009

We were out on the beach with this family in January and it was just too windy and cold for everybody but especially little baby M. And now just a few months later here is little Miss M – no baby anymore happily frolicking on the beach.

And of course – here’s mom.

*words of wisdom*

April 17, 2009

Yesterday I saw an article in the Miami Herald that was actually about recipes that can use the food you have in your pantry. I only read the beginning but the author mentioned that her mom had told her when she was young to always make sure to buy her clothes as full outfits otherwise you would be wasting money on something that would hang unused in your closet. That struck a familiar chord with me because my own mother gave me the same sage advice. I don’t always follow it but she shared it nonetheless. But it got me thinking about what things our mothers tell us that stick with us over the years. My favorite expression that my mother used to use was, “that makes me so mad I could just spit!” Even as a kid I thought, really, does anybody spit when they are mad? I know I don’t. Oh well, what are mom’s for if not sharing words of wisdom with our kids. I can’t imagine what things I say that my kids will remember.

Today’s image is from my morning on the beach. It was breezy so my little bubba here got a little unhappy which is really unlike him. He is sooooo calm as a baby. But he was happier when we got out of the wind I will say. Here is a tender moment with mom hiding from the wind and then later sharing his totally rad shades with me.

Freedom

December 4, 2008

There is nothing quite like a new walker and the joy that they have in just walking on their own. I’ve been all over the beach recently and here’s one with a little smiley client. blogprev.jpg

Mischief and Mayhem

September 30, 2008

I could have also called this post double trouble. I think that little boys are special. But more importantly they are soooo quick. I love these boys. They are happy, curious and adventurous. I wouldn’t have it any other way to be sure. But they did do something that hadn’t been done before which is that they did *almost* pull the backdrop down. EEEK.

Can you imagine? Moving that studio enhancement right to the top of the list because that shouldn’t happen.

On of my mindful statements… mantras if you will is to embrace the chaos. Because even amidst the chaos is charm and beauty.

These first previews are probably actually outtakes but oh how they make me smile.

Hee hee. They really do make me laugh. It just cracks me up.

But never fear because there is also this:

Your full preview is coming soon so this is just a taste. Thanks for spending your morning with me.

Baby J and his big brother

September 12, 2008

This is a family I have known from the beginning. I know from knowing them that fall is their season. I think moreso since they now have 2 beautiful, healthy boys in their group.

If you read the blog you’ve seen the big brother before I think he has spectacular eyes and I love that he’s a little imp (I say that with love). Here he is breaking in my new garage sale find. You can’t see it in the image but as you can tell it’s a popular item with the toddler set.

Here he is exploring his little brother. Like many toddlers he might love him occasionally with a bit more gusto than parents might like. But I think that these two will probably be best friends in just a little bit.

The last preview today is mom and new baby J. See how calm she is. Of course, that’s because behind the camera dad is doing his dad thing with the older sib. Thank you dad for your help. We couldn’t have done this session without you. Well, we could have but we would have been much more stressed out by the end.  And who has time for that?

Thanks for sharing your beautiful family with me. I’ll see you soon.

So, my son is a booger-head. He’s totally congested and has been for a while so after some deliberation I hauled him to the Doctor today. I mean … you don’t want to go if you don’t have to because you could go in with a cold and come out with strep throat. I do try to keep my visits there to a minimum … which is funny because I feel like I’m there all the time. Good thing I really like my pediatrician.

But this was my morning (I know many of you have done this routine) … drive to school … drive to the doctors office … wait … see the doctor … discuss boogers …  drive to the pharmacy … wait … bleh. It’s enough to make a girl want to take a nap :-) Oh wait … the nap was for my son.
